Iberia MUD Web Client

Post by Viriato »

Hello!
Today, a new Iberia MUD webclient was released, which can be reached from our website. It is very innovative, already workable/playable but also still needs many improvements. Being an hobby, moving from a good solution to an optimal one would take years, so it was decided to be released right now in it's current state.

This is an old proof of concept I had long ago. In short, I believed that one of the best wrappers for MUDS, considering web/visual clients, is a card game. And after 8 or 10 years, here it is!

One of the cool aspects of this client is that it only uses pure existent out of band protocols, namely MSDP, meaning that there is no magic at all in the server to make this possible.

It supports almost all Iberia MUD systems (communication, army combat, combat, equipment, etc) and also has, as last resort, an "old school" terminal window (that we all like!).

Rather than showing a finished piece of software that can bring and retain new players, I trust it is more relevant to mud community: probably it can turn into a great step for other programmers (not the hobbyists, probably) develop better mud frontends.

Enjoy!

Hello.
Added the alternative to not use cards at all, which makes it rather nice client as well: you still have the old terminal, but also have a specific window for conversation/comm channels and another one for the graphical map.

Also, as it works under a web secure socket, means all communications between your endpoint and Iberia server go through a secure tunnel.

Enjoy!
