Server updates

Post by Viriato »

With luck, I expect tomorrow to have the new server mounted and working. Iberia will be faster then.

Note 1 Viriato (02Jun07) New server!

Ahoy!
As informed before, I was successful changed from my old server to a new one, and everything runs much more faster than before :)
The change was from an old Pentium II to a Pentium IV, so you may figure out the \"jump\" the server gave :P
Hope now everyone can connect and be around fast!

Also my appologies for forum being down during this weekend, but I couldnt set it up correctly due to conflicts between server and forum (with this update on hardware, I could also make an update on software).

Now works everything 100% with a great jump on quality!

Another hardware update on server: bought an UPS that will prevent break downs due to electrical power - the reasons for the last two prolongued breaks.

Did some updates on server, so MUD and site were down yesterday for some hours. It's now running as usual, but with less noise, less probability of hardware errors, more compatibility with actual hardware, and with more space for future upgrades.

Good evening.
The latest 3 weeks, Iberia MUD server was down due to a mistake made by me (tried to upgrade hard disk, but when I was transfering data from old to new one, I`ve \"burned\" both), and right after that, when re-installing the OS, I had some headaches trying to figure out I had a virus in my backup files and programs. That virus, called Virut, is able to break the OS system files, so I was unable to maintain server up for more than one day. Anyway, finally I cleaned it and gave an additional protection to server, and now it is running again.

Also, characters created after my last backup do not exist now...

There is a good news, though: command warscape was implemented, so army combat is now more interesting.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

New updates on server: connection is much more stable now (but not faster, unfortunately), which will prevent some breaks and timouts server had before.

Another update made: I've installed a streaming engine, so players can now play Iberia hearing our suggested music playlist.
Use the link at our site's entrance page, or the following link:

www.iberiamud.com:8000/listen.pls

Not a priority, but I will try to make streaming work with Windows Media Player, because just some players recognize and use .pls files as playlist files. Our suggestion is to use Winamp.

In 12 August, my router burned and put it in repair. It just was fixed 2 days ago, so server runs again 24/7. Sorry for this month downtime.

New connection, so no more downtimes expected, and also everything runs faster (including MUD, you will notice difference).
Thank you.

Re: Server updates

Good evening.
In February 2015 "iberiamud.com" will expire, and I've decided to not renew the domain. This means we will return to use the less expensive "iberia.zapto.org".
Meanwhile, both addresses point to our site and mud.

"New" addresses to use after February 2015:
http://iberia.zapto.org
iberia.zapto.org:5900

Hi.
Another update on Iberia URL:
Site: http://iberia.jdai.pt
MUD: iberia.jdai.pt:5900

The old paths still work, at least in the near future.

Hi!
Yesterday, there was a revamp on website and forum. Both are, now, responsive.
