MAP

Usage: map

Usage: map details

The map command allows anyone to check their maps and figure out their current location in the world. It will work in both wilderness and inside smaller areas, like towns or camps (a different map will be shown accordingly to each situation). The efficacy of this action is determined by your awareness skill: the higher it is, the bigger the map you will see. However, players with lower awareness do not need to worry: looking around can be very useful in finding your way around.

Use map command with argument "details" if you wish to see a descriptive map of a 5x5 square area, with you in the center.

Map legend:

! - room where you are

Wilderness specific:

. - beaches and sandy terrain

- plains, grasslands, and other flat terrain

% - forest

^ - hills, mountains

~ - river, lake, ocean, or other waterbody

+ - roads

* - point of interest: town, larger farm, camp, etc.

X - impassable terrain

Inside smaller areas specific:

B - buildings

G - gates

: - walls

Note 1: only the largest "points of interest" will be marked on your map. These are typically towns, camps and farms of significant size, or notable landmarks. To find the smaller ones, you will have to explore on your own.

Note 2: at the beginning of the command output it says the region and world coordinates where you are currently.

Note 3: map details only returns descriptions in the wilderness. While inside cities and other specific areas, it will return the same output as simply using "map".
